  ASU-Beebe Receives $75,000 Grant From Metallica - September 9th -  

 Arkansas State University-Beebe is revving up its automotive program thanks to a $75,000 grant from the Metallica Scholars Initiative.

The grant, part of a nationwide effort by the Metallica Foundation to support career and technical education, will fund 25 student scholarships and the purchase of a state-of-the-art hybrid electric vehicle trainer.

The scholarships offer students flexibility to cover tuition, certification expenses, or even the tools needed for their future careers.

ASU-Beebe's automotive program is already in high gear, with partnerships like Toyota, Lexus, and offering certifications that enhance students' value in the field. The program serves high school students, college students, and technicians seeking advanced training. With this boost, the school is set to continue preparing the next generation of skilled technicians. (KATV)

01 - Defining News - Isaiah Calvert

            The actual definition of news in the dictionary is: News received or noteworthy information, especially about recent or important events.  I think that is a perfect way to describe what news is, but I would like to go into that a little bit more. Everyone's definition of news is different, maybe not the actual definition, but at least what information people consider news. So, in terms of what news actually is, I would say it varies from person to person because one person might see some information and not consider it to be news, while another person can see the same thing and think it's not news at all. Does that cause it to not be news anymore? No, but it does mean that It is not news to a group of individuals, which will be the case for all information.       With the rise in popularity and use of AI it is inevitable that it will be integrated into journalism. I think that it is important going forward that we use AI to aid in journalism and not take it over. I think that would be detrimental to the field, and I'm going to go over a few reasons why. This is a story from a journalism student in his second year of graduate school   "There has been a growing discomfort among both students and faculty regarding how professional writers are meant to compete against fast, efficient language models that do not require time off, benefits, or empathy.  My courses have started assigning exercises specifically designed to acquaint students with ChatGPT.
