      Today I'm going to be talking about the ongoing shutdown of our government, which has reached 28 days almost reaching the record for our government being shutdown which is 35 days  How can out government get shut down?-  The United States federal government shuts down when Congress fails to pass the necessary bills to fund government agencies and operations before the start of the new fiscal year on October 1 . This leads to a lapse in funding, forcing agencies to cease all non-essential functions.   Why is our government shut down right now?- Republicans and Democrats could not agree to pass a bill funding government services past 1 October, when the federal budget expired.       This is my first time ever looking up what a listening post is. But the definition of a listening post is " a station for  intercepting  electronic communications". So today I will be talking about the  KVMA  licensed in magnolia Arkansas.  The station is currently owned by the  Noalmark Broadcasting Corporation. This stations is a sports broadcasting station.      Before the station was a sports broadcasting station it was many other things back in the 60's and 70's it was apparently  well-known for the "Mary K Show" with host Mary K.                  Nearly 20% fewer international students traveled to the US in August -  The number of international students arriving in the U.S. in August fell by 19 percent this year compared with last year, the largest decline on record outside of the pandemic.  The decline is occurring as the Trump administration has  delayed visa processing , instituted  travel bans  or restrictions for 19 countries,  threatened to deport  international students for  pro-Palestinian speech , and  heightened the vetting  of student visa applicants.         The data, based on   arrival records   of international student visitors, includes both new international students entering the U.S. and existing international students returning to the country.
